Chautauqua Hall Dance Club


	General Information
	Chautauqua Hall itself was built in 1881 as an assembly hall for the popular annual Methodist Church summer conference in Pacific Grove. Since then, the hall has been used by various groups of people for different purposes: for church services, for fitness classes, as a high school gymnasium, as a dance hall, etc. The Chautauqua Hall Dance Club recognized the hall's potential for dancing because of its large hardwood floor. The Club has been hosting a dance every Saturday evening for about 65 years. Whether you are an expert dancer or have never danced before you will feel welcome, as the hall has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Admission
Recorded-music evenings: $5.00 for members; $10.00 for non-members
Live-music evenings: $10.00 for members; $15.00 for non-members

Membership
Membership costs $10 per year and the benefits include:

$5 discount off the admission price on recorded-music evenings ($5.00 instead of $10)
$5 discount off the admission price on live-music evenings ($10 instead of $15)
Free admission on occasional "Free Admission for Members" evenings
Opportunity to vote on club business and during board member elections
Eligibility to serve on the club board

When and Where
We have a dance every Saturday from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, unless otherwise noted (see ), in Chautauqua Hall, 16th Street at Central Avenue, Pacific Grove, California (see ).

Lessons
Dance lessons are offered from 6:00 PM to 6:45 PM on Saturday evening and the cost of the lesson is included in the admission fee. The lesson schedule is posted on the .

The Music
Recorded Music - A diverse range of music is played to appeal to all tastes and preferences--there is something for everyone! On any given evening, selections might include Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra, Sting, Chayanne, Nora Jones, Shania Twain, Santana, Britney Spears, Boyz II Men, etc, just to name a few.

Live Music - A live band is hired approximately 4 times per year. The bands feature local musicians and each is chosen for its ability to play quality, danceable music.
